What Length LED Site Light Do You Need — 15m, 25m or 50m?

Comparing our Site Light LED strip lengths to find the right fit for your worksite.

When it comes to temporary construction lighting, there's no one-size-fits-all solution. The size of your work area, the layout of the site, and where you plan to position your lights can all influence what setup you'll need.

We developed our construction-grade LED strip lighting as a versatile, adaptable system that can be useful across multiple jobs. However, with three lengths of the C240V Site Light available, there are situations where one option may be more practical than another. So, how do you choose between 15m, 25m and 50m? Here’s a guide.

Understanding the Different Site Light Lengths

Before comparing the options, it's worth understanding what stays consistent across the range.

All three lengths of our AC240V Site Light feature:

  • 6000K cool white lighting
  • 1,300 lumens per metre
  • 180 LEDs per metre
  • Double-sided LED output
  • Direct AC240V plug-in
  • IP65-rated protection against dust and light moisture
  • Flexible positioning along suitable structures
  • Portable drum-based storage for transport between jobs

Because the brightness is consistent per metre, choosing a longer Site Light doesn't mean getting a brighter light at any particular point along the strip. Instead, you're increasing the total illuminated length, allowing you to distribute lighting across a larger area.

You’re also not just limited to one strip! We wanted to give our customers as much freedom as possible, so our AC240V Site Lights can be linked together. The system supports a maximum length of 100 metres.

15m LED Site Light: For Smaller Work Areas

The 15m Site Light is a practical choice when you're working within a relatively compact area or need temporary lighting for a specific section of a larger project.

For example, site lighting for electricians may be deployed in one room only or a defined section of a building. Similarly, contractors working in a plant room or enclosed workspace may not need the additional length of a larger reel.

The shorter length also makes it easier to manage when lighting needs to be regularly repositioned as work progresses.

Consider the 15m Site Light for:

  • Individual rooms and smaller work zones
  • Electrical and mechanical installations
  • Interior renovation projects
  • Temporary lighting in confined work areas

Power consumption: 195W

25m LED Site Light: For Medium-Sized Work Areas

The 25m Site Light offers additional coverage without stepping up to the longest reel in the range. This makes it a versatile option for contractors working across larger rooms, extended work zones, or areas where lighting needs to follow the shape of the space.

For example, it may be more useful than the 15m run in corridors or other elongated areas where multiple conventional lights would otherwise need to be positioned individually.

Consider the 25m Site Light for:

  • Medium-sized commercial fit-outs
  • Extended corridors and work zones
  • Larger interior renovation projects
  • Workshops and industrial maintenance areas

Power consumption: 325W

50m LED Site Light: For Larger Construction Projects

For projects with extensive work areas, the 50m Site Light provides the greatest continuous lighting length in our range.

Instead of arranging multiple individual lighting fixtures throughout a large workspace, contractors can position a longer lighting run along suitable structures to distribute illumination across the area.

This can be particularly useful in warehouses, basements and underground areas, large commercial developments, and industrial facilities where work extends across considerable distances.

We have more tips on lighting large construction sites here.

Consider the 50m Site Light for:

  • Warehouses and industrial facilities
  • Large commercial construction projects
  • Long corridors and extended work areas
  • Large-scale building renovations

Power consumption: 650W

The Battery Light: Where Power Can’t Reach

It's also worth considering whether you'll always have access to mains power. For jobs where electricity is limited or unavailable, our Battery Site Light offers an alternative.

Powered by a compatible 18V power tool battery, this option provides portable lighting without needing a power outlet.

What’s the difference? The Battery Site Light comes in a 10m reel only. It delivers approximately 900–1,200 lumens per metre from its single-sided LED strip, compared to the AC240V model's double-sided output and 1,300 lumens per metre.

Runtime depends on the battery and the brightness settings you’re using, but at 50% brightness most batteries can provide 2-3 hours of runtime. We go into this in more depth on that here: Battery Site Light Runtime Explained.

While it's not necessarily the best option for illuminating large work areas over extended periods, it's particularly useful for shorter jobs, mobile trades, and sites where mains power isn't readily available or where running power leads is not possible, such as roofing projects.

Find the Right Site Light for Your Project

Ultimately, choosing between a 15m, 25m or 50m Site Light comes down to how you plan to use it. Whichever length you choose, you'll get the same bright, evenly distributed LED lighting, with the flexibility to position it around your work area. The main difference is how much of the site you can illuminate with a single lighting run.

If you're lighting individual rooms or smaller work zones, a 15m reel may be all you need. For larger interior spaces and extended work areas, 25m offers additional coverage. For more extensive construction sites, you might need to upgrade to the 50m reel.

We find that most crews actually keep a few different lengths in their toolkit, giving them the flexibility to choose the most practical setup for each job. After all, many builders have multiple projects underway at once, each with different lighting requirements. One site might call for a 50m lighting run across a large work area, while other trades might only need 15m to illuminate a crawl space.
