Installation Methods

Lead Stands — Fast Coverage, No Structure Required

Best used where structural mounting isn’t an option.

Setup:

  1. Position the pole on stable, level ground
  2. Extend to the desired height (ideally locked between floor and ceiling)
  3. Attach the hooks into the custom holes
  4. Mount the light to run the lead cleanly across the poles
  5. Keep cables overhead and out of walkways
  6. Power up and check coverage

Key Consideration: Keep poles clear of foot traffic and vehicle paths.

Screw Clips — Fixed Reliability

Ideal when you want lighting locked into place on sites with integrated structural mounting options.

Setup:

  1. Choose a solid fixing point that you can screw into (no weak materials) e.g. timber
  2. Install the mount using the screw fasteners — repeat for each slip
  3. Insert the light strip securely
  4. Plug in and power up

Key Consideration: For optimal performance, mount screw clips approximately 1–1.5 metres apart along the length of the light. This keeps the strip properly supported, prevents sagging, and maintains a consistent output.

Lead Hooks — Hang & Move As Needed

The quickest way to get full-site coverage that works with structures you have onsite.

Setup:

  1. Hook onto a stable overhead structure (e.g. beams or scaffolding)
  2. Position for maximum spread and minimal shadowing
  3. Route cables along the structure to ensure the light isn’t bent, folded or creased for extended periods
  4. Switch on the light

Key Consideration: Always trust the structure — or choose another method.

Extending Your Setup — Connecting Light Strips

Scaling your lighting is simple. Using a 2Y or 3Y Connector, you can split and extend your setup across multiple zones without compromising output. Do not exceed a maximum lead length of 100m combined.

How to connect:

  1. Power OFF
  2. Align both light strip connectors
  3. Secure into the connector following instructions
  4. Check seals are tight
  5. Connect to power and test

What matters:

  • Secure, tight connections = maintained performance
  • Don’t overload your circuit
  • If it doesn’t click in properly, don’t use excessive force

Before setting up your Quipt Site Light, always follow Australian electrical standards and always read the safety manual first — damage that results from failure to follow the safety manual is not covered in our product warranty.

Important reminders:

  • Do not operate the light while it is tightly coiled
  • Do not submerge in liquids or standing water — the cable is IP65 rated for moisture exposure but is not designed to be submerged
  • Do not puncture the lead with staples, nails, or similar
  • Do not bend, fold or crease the light at angles sharper than 7cm

FAQ: Setting Up The Site Light

The best setup depends on your site layout:

  • The lead stands are recommended for sites without structures to hang hooks or install screw clips
  • Screw mounts are best for fixed, longer term positioning along structures that are able to be punctured with screws
  • Lead hooks are best for hanging off temp framing, scaffolding, or other stable structures onsite

The Plug & Play Site Light is available in three lengths — 15m, 25m and 50m. You can also connect multiple leads to extend the length up to 100m total (do not exceed). We also have a 10m Battery-Operated Site Light for sites without power.

Most crews purchase multiple lights to ensure teams have options for all site layouts and sizes. Buy 5+ lights and save 10% or buy 10+ to save 15%.

To minimise trip hazards:

  • Keep cables off the ground
  • Store wound on the drum when not in use
  • Use overhead mounting systems
  • Avoid running leads through walkways
