5 Reasons We Made the Lead Stands for Cable Management on Site

A practical, easy way to support temporary power leads overhead.

Power leads are unavoidable on construction sites. Leads running all over the ground, however, don't have to be.

When we developed the Quipt Lead & Light Stands, we wanted to create a practical way to support temporary power leads overhead, particularly in areas where there wasn't an obvious structure available to hang them from. And we wanted it to work as a mounting options for our LED cable lighting system, too.

Like most Quipt products, the idea was simple: take a common frustration on site and find a better way to deal with it.

Here are five of the reasons we made them, and why they’d be a great addition to your site.

1. Because Leads Don't Belong All Over the Ground

On a busy site, you've already got enough happening at ground level. There are tools, materials, equipment and workers moving around. You don’t want to also be stepping over multiple extension leads.

The Lead Stands provide a simple way to get those leads up and out of the main work area. Each pole extends up to 3.5 metres, allowing cables to be supported overhead rather than running along the floor. It's a straightforward change, but one that can make a big difference.

Think of it as a trade-off in floorspace — a few slim poles to replace piles of leads running across large areas of site and creating trip hazards.

2. Because There's Not Always Somewhere to Hang Them

Running leads overhead is one thing. Finding somewhere suitable to support them is another.

Depending on the stage of construction, you might have exposed framing or structural elements available. In other areas, particularly more complete spaces, there may be nowhere convenient to support an overhead lead run.

That's one of the main problems the Lead Stands were designed to solve.

Rather than relying entirely on what's already available on site, the stands give you portable support points that can be positioned where you actually need them. They just need a sturdy base above and below to lock between.

3. Because Construction Sites Never Stay the Same

Cable management that works today might be completely impractical a few weeks from now, because sites are constantly changing.

We wanted the Lead Stands to work with that reality.

Each stand has a lightweight telescopic design, so they can be easily repositioned and your leads rerouted as you work. At the same time, they stay secure and sturdy once they're locked into place thanks to the rubber base pads providing grip on the ground.

4. Because One Lead Is Rarely the Problem

On a commercial construction site, temporary power can quickly involve multiple extension leads running across the same work area.

That's why we didn't design the stands to support just one — each Quipt Lead Stand has three hooks, allowing three cables to be supported from the same pole setup. With four stands included in each kit, you can create an organised run through larger work areas.

5. Because We Wanted Them to Do More Than Manage Leads

We called them Lead & Light Stands for a reason.

While cable management was an important part of their design, we also wanted the same system to provide a solution for our temporary overhead lighting system.

The stands can be used to support the Quipt Site Light when there aren't suitable mounting points available, allowing you to create an elevated run of continuous lighting through the work area.

When you're using both temporary power and temporary lighting on site, that means you don't necessarily need two completely separate support systems. The same kit can help get your leads off the ground and keep your Quipt light strip overhead.

Better Cable Management Without Overcomplicating It

The Lead & Light Stands were designed to make cable management easier.

We wanted a system that could be brought onto any site and set up wherever it's needed.

Each kit includes four telescopic poles extending up to 3.5 metres, with three lead hooks per pole, rubber base pads and a carry bag.

If you've been looking at the power leads running across your site and thinking there has to be a better way, that's exactly why we made them.
